Chipotle Will Begin Testing Drive Thru Windows

Chipotle is contemplating granting the wishes of many of their customers as the burrito chain is testing out drive-thru windows.

On Tuesday, executives with the company announced plans to experiment with putting a drive-thru window at one location in Ohio this fall, according to Business Insider.

"We need to evolve the Chipotle experience," CMO Mark Crumpacker said.

Not only are the higher-ups at Chipotle hoping to attract new customers, but the company is trying to win back the loyalty of the patrons that ditched the chain following its 2015 E. coli crisis.

Many fans have taken to social media to voice their desire for a drive thru window at Chipotle.

The Chipotle CEO Steve Ells is hopeful that the change will help maintain the upward trend in the company's earnings in recent months.

"We saw encouraging signs in our improved financial results during the first half of the year," Chipotle CEO Steve Ells said in a press release. "Recent events, however, have shown that we still have a lot of opportunity to improve our operations and deliver the outstanding experience that our customers expect."

In the past, Chipotle has been reluctant to make any changes to its current business model. However, there has been pressure from the investors to make improvements after the food poisoning scandal drove off many customers. At the time, 120 Boston College students fell ill with Norovirus and 52 people in other states were sickened from E. Coli, according to the Huffington Post.

Once again, Chipotle has been dealing with reports of food poisoning this week in Virginia.

One change that Chipotle recently announced was that it will be adding queso to the menu. For years, the chain said that it will never serve queso. However, the company announced on Tuesday that it would be adding the dish to the menu at 350 locations in August, and could possibly be serving it nationally as soon as mid-September.
