Mad Max: Furiosa is Ready to Go Says Charlize Theron

Acclaimed filmmaker George Miller came back in 2015 and did the (near) impossible: he brought back his Mad Max franchise from 30 years of obscurity, to create the massively successful reboot that was Mad Max: Fury Road. After earning $378 million worldwide, and earning 10 Oscar nominations (with six wins), fan enthusiasm for the Mad Max franchise was higher than ever. Miller had continuously teased that Fury Road would be the opening chapter of a larger trilogy of films, and one of those films is apparently in place to get made sooner, before later.

In an interview with Variety, Mad Max: Fury Road star Charlize Theron revealed that the scripts for her extension of the Mad Max franchise, Mad Max: Furiosa, is ready to be made - and that she is game to return:

"There were three scripts." Theron said, "They were written as backstories to Max's character and to Furiosa's character. But at the end of the day, this thing lives and breathes with [director] George [Miller]. I think Warner Bros. knows that. We are all waiting for him to show us the way."

As of now, there's been no movement on the Mad Max front, as Miller hasn't yet announced any new film he may have in development. There was once supposed to be a Furiosa anime film spinoff, but that also has not panned out.

In addition to Mad Max: Furiosa, there is also the other film, Mad Max: The Wasteland, which has been teased ever since Fury Road hit theaters. Earlier this year, George Miller stated in an interview that, "we wrote two other screenplays just as part of the bible of the stories. Somewhere, if the planets align, there will be two other films."

So there you have it.

You can next catch Charlize Theron in the film Atomic Blonde, which partner's her with John Wick director David Leitch for a kick-ass spy thriller. Check out the trailer above.
