Jon Stewart Is Returning to TV With HBO Specials

Jon Stewart is returning to television with a pair of planned specials to air on HBO, Variety reports.
The first program will be Stewart's first stand-up comedy special in 20 years, with his last being 1996's Jon Stewart: Unleavened on HBO.

"I'm really thrilled to be able to return to stand-up on HBO," Stewart said in a statement. "They've always set the standard for great stand-up specials. Plus, I can finally use up the last of the Saddam Hussein jokes left over from my first special."
In 2015, Stewart signed a four-year deal with the network after exiting Comedy Central's The Daily Show.

The second HBO program will be the autism benefit Night of Too Many Stars, which previously aired on Comedy Central and will now move to HBO. Stewart will host the event, which will air live from the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday, Nov. 18, and include "performances, sketches, and short films."
The date and location of Stewart's stand-up special has not yet been revealed.
