John McCain Breaks Silence After Brain Cancer Diagnosis

Politician John McCain revealed this week that he has been diagnosed with brain cancer, and he has since broken his silence about the diagnosis on social media.
"I greatly appreciate the outpouring of support - unfortunately for my sparring partners in Congress, I'll be back soon, so stand-by!" McCain tweeted on July 20.

After sharing his diagnosis, McCain received a flood of support from friends and family.
Former president Barack Obama shared a message for McCain on Twitter, writing, "John McCain is an American hero & one of the bravest fighters I've ever known. Cancer doesn't know what it's up against. Give it hell, John."

McCain's family announced the news of his diagnosis with a statement on July 19.
"On Friday, July 14, Sen. John McCain underwent a procedure to remove a blood clot above his left eye at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix," the statement read. "Subsequent tissue pathology revealed that a primary brain tumor known as glioblastoma was associated with the blood clot."
