Calvin Harris is clearing the air after it was revealed that he and Taylor Swift had ended their 15 month relationship.

"The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect," the DJ wrote on Twitter. And while T.Swift didn't weigh in on the matter in her own words, she chose to retweet her ex-boyfriend's words from her own account.

After the news broke Wednesday that Swift and Harris had ended their courtship, many fans were left wondering what went wrong.

While multiple reports seemed to agree that it was Harris who ended things, a friend of Swift's revealed to PEOPLE that the reason for the split was partially because the DJ felt "intimidated" by the singer's massive level of success.

"[Harris] said on multiple occasions that he was intimidated by Taylor, which is why he would not attend any events where she was being honored, or any award shows unless he was nominated," the source said.

"Taylor is an independent young woman, and she realizes it will take a very secure man to handle her success," Swift's friend added.

The source's statement does seem to ring true, however, as Harris was not in attendance at this year's Met Gala, which Swift co-chaired, nor was he at the Grammy Awards in February or the BMI Pop Awards in May, where Swift accepted an award named after her.

Although the Scottish DJ was the one to end things, reports reveal that Swift saw the split coming, as things had been fizzling out between the couple for some time.

"They come from very different worlds," a source close to Harris noted of the pair. "Taylor is used to being treated a certain way."

"It wasn't an equal relationship," the source added. "Their age difference might not be significant for many couples, but for them it was part of the problem too. Taylor somewhat lacks real-life experience. They will not be getting back together."

Despite this, the source shared that Harris "very much admires [Swift] as a person and what she has been able to do with her career. This is what drew him to her in the first place."

"She works incredibly hard for things that she believes in," the source continued. He always saw that as an amazing quality. They are still friendly."

And judging by their tweets, we think it's safe to say there's no "bad blood"...we'll just have to wait and see what we can glean from songs on Taylor's new album!
