What Does Kurt Sutter's Latest Tweet Mean for the Future of 'Mayans MC'?

The Sons of Anarchy faithful are starting to worry about the upcoming spin-off series Mayans MC, and the show creator isn't really helping.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Mayans MC pilot was undergoing extensive reshoots, recasting some key roles and swapping out directors.

With fans already on-edge concerning the new series, a recent tweet by creator Kurt Sutter seemed to take their anxiety up a notch. After someone tweeted at Sutter, saying they missed Sons of Anarchy, he said that "hopefully" the series would be riding again soon.

Hopefully?

Some fans have taken this as a sign that Sutter is unsure about the future of Mayans MC. If he's only hopeful that the series will get picked up by FX, the chances seem a bit slim.

Fortunately, this message wasn't one of doubt, but one of excitement.

If you recall, the original Sons of Anarchy pilot went through major reshoots, with over 95% of the episode being re-done. This alteration also came with a casting change. Ron Perlman replaced Scott Glenn as Clay Morrow, and Emilio Rivera's character was turned into Mayan president Marcus Alvarez.

Sutter has been open about the process, knowing that this is how the cookie often crumbles. By saying 'hopefully,' he was simply keeping himself safe from making any definitive statements, in case the unthinkable happens and the show doesn't end up getting a series order.

Judging by Sutter's track-record with the FX brass, it's more likely than not that we'll see Mayans MC getting the thumbs-up. It's just taking a little longer than many had hoped.
