With just one toss of ice, Game of Thrones both broke the hearts of most fans, while also proving just how dangerous the Night King can really be.

It also seems like the death of Viserion could be a big dragonglass dagger to the heart of those who subscribe to the theory that Tyrion Lannister is secretly a Targaryen.

This theory suggests that Tyrion's mother was impregnated by the Mad King, causing his father to hate him more than he already would have for the loss of his wife. Theorists who believe this also think that Tyrion will be the third dragon-rider, next to Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.

However, with the death of Viserion, it looks as though that theory has come crashing down into the ice.

Daenerys has taken to Drogon, the strongest of the three dragons, who she named after her late husband Khal Drogo. That leaves Rhaegal and Viserion to be ridden by other potential Targaryens.

Rhaegal was named after Dany's older brother Rhaegar Targaryen, who we now know to be the father of Jon Snow. There's no longer any doubt that Jon is a part of the Targaryen bloodline, and one of the dragons is named after his actual father. It stands to reason that this dragon is being set aside for Jon to ride at some point.

With Viserion's death, there are now only two dragons that can be ridden, and they each already have a logical pilot. This leaves Tyrion dragon-less, and likely not a part of the Targaryen lineage.
