Second Dragon Rider Teased in New 'Game of Thrones' Footage

Up until this point, Daenerys is the only current character from Game of Thrones who is capable of controlling the dragons. But a new teaser from HBO may suggest that is changing.

In the above teaser first shared by Vanity Fair, one of Daenerys' dragons is seen aggressively approaching Jon Snow as he stands his ground, but clearly a little anxious.

Some may think that riding a dragon is no big deal, but in reality, it's supposed to be a lost skill, kind of like forging Valyrian steel. The Targaryen's are said to have used a combination of practice and sorcery in order to learn to ride the dragons.

It's interesting, though, that Daenerys does not use sorcery in order to be able to ride her dragons.

Not just anyone can ride a dragon either. In the books, a character named Quentyn Martell (who was in the show but was written out) tried to tame Viserion, one of Daenerys' dragons but ended up getting torched by another one of them, Rhaegal.

Some fans of the show worried that this might happen to Tyrion at one point, but so far he has remained free of dragon-fire.

The reason for the Jon Snow could tease the highly regarded theory that he is really a Targaryen.

Then again, there are also theories that since there are three dragons there will be three dragon riders. The only trouble with that theory is, who would the third rider be? We'll just have to wait and see.
