'Game of Thrones': Season 7, Episode 5 - 'Eastwatch'

Dany's Path to the Throne

Daenerys has been going after the Iron Throne since the show began. The only problem is that lately, she hasn't been very successful.

Just before Dany left for Westeros, her trusted adviser Jorah Mormont revealed that he had grey scale. Despite her issues trusting him, this was still a big loss for the queen. However, little does she know, Jorah has been cured by Samwell Tarly and is currently on his way to find her.

Once Dany and her armies left for Westeros, things got rough in a hurry. Most of her ships were taken down by Euron Greyjoy in a surprise attack at sea. The rest of her fleet was burned after her Unsullied troops were tricked into being trapped at Casterly Rock.

Basically, The Loot Train Attack was Dany's first real victory against Cersei, and she will be looking to compound on that success as the season continues.

Jon Snow

After being crowned King in the North, Jon Snow was informed that Daenerys Targaryen wanted an audience with him, and that her castle sat on a mountain of dragonglass. As you probably know, that's the one substance that can succeed in killing White Walkers.

Jon made his way down to Dany, in the hopes that he could convince her that the White Walker threat was real, and that they could band together and fight it. Unfortunately, Dany has her sights set too narrowly on the throne.

In the episodes since Jon and Dany met, the former has become an adviser of sorts. Daenerys finally trusts his opinions, and she has allowed him to mine the dragonglass that sleeps beneath her towers.

Look for Jon to leave Dany's side this week, as he looks to continue preparing for war against the Night King.

Eastwatch

Many have been wondering what exactly 'Eastwatch' is, and why an entire episode is named after it.

Well, the term is actually a name for an important castle, and it will likely play a vital role in Jon Snow's war.

Eastwatch By The Sea is one of the castles along the northern wall. Much like Castle Black, it acts as a protective hub for everything to the south.

Eastwatch is located near the end of the wall, by the sea, and it's the closest castle to Hardhome.

If you recall, Jon sent Tormund Giantsbane and his wilding army to Eastwatch to protect it. This episode title likely means that we'll see a battle, or a major reunion, take place at the seaside castle.
