There has always been a ton of crossover between various nerd communities, and the fan bases of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones are no exception.

During the Season 7 premiere of HBO's hit series, Potterheads were quick to point out a possible connection to the beloved wizarding world.

It all started with Samwell Tarly's desire to investigate the history of dragon glass. The books at The Citadel that Sam needed were in the restricted section of the library, but he was restricted to searching through the normal bookshelves.

If you recall, Harry Potter had the same problem in his franchise. Harry, Hermione, and Ron were always searching for classified information in the restricted section of the Hogwarts library.

That connection alone was enough to grab the interest of Potter fans, but the following scene truly got their attention.

In order to get access to the restricted section, Sam sought help from Archmaester Ebrose, for whom he is apprenticing.

When Sam had his scene with Ebrose, fans noticed that the character was played by British actor Jim Broadbent. Harry Potter fans would instantly recognize him as Hogwarts' own Professor Slughorn.

These connections likely weren't intentional, but it was awesome to see the subtle ties nontheless.
