WARNING: Major Spoilers ahead for 'Game of Thrones' Season 7! Continue reading at your own risk...

When Jon Snow led an expedition of men north of the wall at the end of last week's episode of Game of Thrones, fans knew that not everyone would be coming back.

Seven men braved the snowy tundra in the north and, surprisingly, six of them made it back safely. Thoros of Myr, the Red Priest who has given an ample amount of life to Beric Dondarrion, was killed during the trip.

Thoros met his end when the group was first attacked by the wights, and a killer polar bear was among them. He sustained some brutal injuries that ended up taking his life later in the episode. Beric burned his body to keep from becoming a wight.

While Thoros was the only character in Jon's special forces team to lose his life, another major player in the Game of Thrones bit the dust as well this week.

As Daenerys took her dragons above the wall to save Jon, the Night King decided to fight back. He made a spear of ice, threw it at Viserion and instantly killed the mighty dragon.

This crushed Dany, as the dragon was regarded as one of her children. However, the implications of Viserion's death reach much further than the beast's mother. This attack means that the Night King can beat the dragons and that the fight will be much more difficult that anyone thought.

Losing both of these characters in one week was definitely a tough blow for viewers. Hopefully the season seven finale isn't another devastating affair.
