Paris Jackson Reveals New Tattoo and Says They Have Helped Her Move Past 'Scars and Self-Hatred'

Paris Jackson, the daughter of late icon Michael Jackson, has a fondness for the beauty of body art, but says that it holds a deeper meaning for her as well, Daily Mail reports.

In a new Instagram post, Jackson reveals her 23rd tattoo and some personal messages about how they have helped her heal.

The photo shows the 18-year-old with her hands behind her head, further revealing her inked arms and several of her new designs.

Her touching post explains that the tattoos help cover her scars — Jackson tried to take her own life in 2013 — and remind her that she's a fighter.

She writes, "Today i can look at my inner forearms and see art that has meaning for me, i don't see a dark past anymore. my scars and past of self-hatred have been covered by loving marks, creativity, ingenuity.. and depth. sure i will always carry my past with me, but i see ink as a way of changing for the better, always improving. they represent strength for me."

Jackson was apparently spotted leaving a tattoo shop in California Sunday, where she received her latest design — which is text and a photo of the rabbit "Frank" from Donnie Darko.

She continued her inspiring message, "I look back at my old self and then i look in the mirror, and i see a fighter looking back at me. i'll always keep fighting, and encouraging others to stay strong. we all go through hell every now and then but it makes us the warriors of love we were meant to be."

She encourages others who have struggled as well, saying, "So to anyone struggling, it gets better. you're not alone."
