Each year, the Saturn Awards celebrates the accomplishments in the world of science fiction, fantasy, and horror in ways that larger awards shows typically don't. In recognizing the achievements in films and TV shows that other awards shows don't, it reminds genre creators just how appreciated their work is by the members of The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. This year, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Stranger Things, and Don't Breathe took home top honors.

The success of 10 Cloverfield Lane's mysterious scenario was due in large part to the cast, with only three actors occupying almost the entire film's running length. It's no surprise that Mary Elizabeth Winstead won Best Actress in a Film and John Goodman won Best Supporting Actor in a Film. The film also took home the award for Best Thriller Film, whereas Don't Breathe took home the prize for Best Horror Film.
