'Stranger Things' Creators Drop Info Bomb About Two Characters' Fate

The masterminds behind Netflix hit series Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, have been dishing on some juicy details for a second season of the show. So SPOILER ALERT for anyone who hasn't seen the first season, or doesn't want to know anything regarding the future of the series.

While a second season hasn't officially been announced, it's an almost certainty that Netflix will greenlight future installments to the series. When asked about the fate of several of the main characters for the second season, Matt and Ross discussed the future of two of the major characters who were in bad condition at the end of the first season.

When season one concluded, Barbara appeared dead in the Upside Down. IGN asked the Duffers if Barb might be returning to the second season, and their response was not a good one for fans of the character.

"I can't see it happening," Matt stated. "But Barb will not be forgotten. We'll make sure there's some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn't seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We're just not spending any screen time on it."

The future for Barb may look grim, but if you like Brenner, there was some good news offered by the showrunners about the character. The show's villain, portrayed by Matthew Modine, was attacked by a monster at the end of the first season with his fate being left with an open-ended conclusion. Did he die or not? According to Matt Duffer, this may not be the last we have seen of Brenner.

"I would say that if we were going to kill Brenner… as an audience member watching the show, if that was his death, that would be very unsatisfying to me – when the monster jumps on him and we cut away. He would deserve much more than that as an ending. So yes, there's a possibility of seeing him again.

What are your thoughts about the characters that should be returning for the second season of Stranger Things?
