Weekly Movie Guide: Beauty and the Beast

We get a lot of great insight about what movies are available for your viewing pleasure each week, be it big new releases competing for box office glory; previously released movies hoping to added to the their box office totals; or even smaller releases available through either limited theatrical released, On Demand, etc.

This week has a big new movie opening that's almost guaranteed to dominate theaters: Disney's live-action version of Beauty and the Beast.

However, big films like Logan and Kong: Skull Island are still drawing big crowds, and there are other movies out that also may be worth your viewing time.

New Movie Showcase: Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast was a Disney animated classic, and the live-action version of the film arrives with worldwide fan anticipation behind it.

The film currently holds a 3.29/5 anticipation rating in our anticipation rankings database; it's a sign that, while there is certainly a built-in audience for a Disney live-action film, maybe there isn't as much excitement for Beauty and the Beast as some may think (at least not with our reader base).

While there is little doubt that Beauty and the Beast is going to have a big weekend at the top of the box office, it will be interesting to see how it endures over multiple weeks - and whether or not Disney fans react well to the live-action version of the classic film.

And as always, enjoy whichever movie(s) you choose to see!

Horror Movie Showcase: The Belko Exeriment

We here at Comicbook.com recognize and appreciate our growing number of horror movie fans (check out CB Horror Page on Facebook for updates!).

If you want something on the darker and more violent side than what's being offered by the mainstream flicks out this week (though Logan does scratch that itch with an Adamantium claw) then look no further than The Belko Experiment!

The film was written by Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 director James Gunn, and features a story where a group of office workers in Columbia are sealed into their building and forced to kill one another in a Battle Royal-style game.

The Belko Experiment will be in theaters starting tonight.

Indie Movie Limited Pick: Song to Song

Acclaimed filmmaker Terrence Malick's new rock 'n' roll love story, Song to Song, is opening in limited release this weekend. The film has an all-star cast, with Oscar-nominees Ryan Gosling and Rooney Mara playing two musicians in love, whose world is rocked (pun) by new fame, and a romantic entaglement with a seedy producer and his waitress girlfriend (Oscar-winners Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman).

Kid's Pick: Ice Age Collision Course

If you're locked in the house this weekend, and you have kids, then HBO Saturday movie will help get you from Saturday night through Sunday evening.

With its latest installment (no. 5) the Ice Age franchise is a huge hit with the little ones - so they'll be good for a few hours of coach potato time, if you want to exercise the option.
