Cagney & Lacey has lost one of their stars.
Harvey Atkin, 74, has died, The Wrap reports. The actor was well known for his roles in Cagney & Lacey, as well as the Law & Order franchise.

“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved friend, husband, father and grandfather, Harvey passed away peacefully last night following his battle with cancer,” Atkins’ agent Larry Goldhar said in a statement.

He died early on July 18 in his home city of Toronto, Canada.
Atkin had a recurring role as Sergeant Ronald Coleman in the CBS police drama, Cagney & Lacey, from 1982 to 1988. He also appeared as Judge Alan Ridenour on several episodes of Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
As far as films go, the actor co-starred alongside Bill Murray, Kate Lynch and Chris Makepace in Meatballs. Other credits include parts in Atlantic City and Beetlejuice.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, son, three sisters and five grandchildren.
