Aaron Carter surprised fans when he came out as bisexual on Sunday. Now, he's speaking about where his life is headed next.
Carter, who broke up with his girlfriend shortly before breaking the news, revealed that opening up about his sexuality was a part of a "new chapter" in his life.
"To be honest, I've been thinking about (coming out) for many years," he said in an interview with The Bert Show. "I just felt like it was something I needed to do… It was something that I just felt like was important and I needed to say. It was a part of a new chapter of turning 30, on Dec. 7 this year."
Of course, Carter's future romantic plans were brought up. He said he's currently single and is now publicly open to relationships with both men and women.
"Whether I choose to be with a woman or a man is my decision," he said. "I find men and women attractive and that's never gonna change."
His original heartfelt note shed light on his sexuality, which he kept private since he was a teenager.
"This doesn't bring me shame, just a weight and burden I have held onto for a long time that I would like lifted off me," he wrote. "I grew up in this entertainment industry at a very young age and when I was around 13-years-old I started to find boys and girls attractive."
