After Garry Marshall passed away on Tuesday, celebrities and fans alike paid tribute to the legendary director, who was at the helm of classic films like Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride and The Princess Diaries.

On Wednesday, actress Kate Hudson shared her tribute to Marshall, whom she has known since childhood and has worked with on multiple films, including Raising Helen and Mother's Day.

The actress took to Instagram to post her thoughts, sharing a snap of her and Marshall together alongside a lengthy caption in which Hudson described how much the director meant to her.

"A hard day for those of us in the Garry camp," the actress wrote before sharing a touching moment she had with Marshall while shooting the movie Mother's Day. Hudson wrote that when she was a child, she would visit the set of Marshall's films- her mother, Goldie Hawn, starred in the Marshall-directed Overboard- and Marshall would let the kids call "action!" This time, however, it was Hudson's own son, 12-year-old Ryder, calling the shots.

"Much to my pleasant surprise the voice booming from behind the wall was my son, Ryder," she continued. "I couldn't help but smile and after we finished the scene both Garry and I shared a moment. We knew in an instant that so many things come full circle."

"That in Garry's words in that moment, "The circle of life is an amazing thing isn't it..." In that moment he was more then my director, he was family."

Hudson added that Marshall was "loyal, wonderful, kind, generous, funny and profound," and that he was full of love.

"The messages Garry shared with the world truly represented his character," she wrote. "He wanted peace and the importance of family and connection to be at the forefront of everything he did."

"To everyone in the Garry Marshall family, I love you all so much," she ended the post. "I will miss you Garry. I love you."
