Game Of Thrones Star Shuts Down Daenerys Spinoff Rumors

When it comes to Game of Thrones, the series is slowly but surely slowing down. The franchise will return to HBO in a couple weeks for its season seven premiere, and the season after that will wrap the epic show. Spin-offs for Game of Thrones are being planned, but one star just shut down rumors that Daenerys Targaryen will get one such series.
In a recent interview, Emilia Clarke opened up about her future with Game of Thrones, and the chat did not bode well for the Mother of Dragons. The actress told Rolling Stone she is walking away from Dany once season eight airs.
"I mean, I have no doubt there'll be prequels and sequels and who knows what else. But I am doing one more season. And then that'll be it," Clarke explained.
For fans, the news will come as a blow. Clark's character has been a fan-favorite in Westeros since Game of Thrones began, but Dany's tenure will soon tie up its loose ends. Game of Thrones could always recast for the Targaryen heiress, but it looks like the character's immediate storylines will not be expanded upon. If anything, HBO would have to pick up with Dany in a prequel or even far-off sequel.
Currently, reports have suggests HBO is working on a slew of Game of Thrones spin-offs. Earlier this year, Entertainment Weekly said HBO is actively developing four different Game of Thrones series, but part of show's original crew will be partially involved with the series. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have indicated they will help produce the shows. No titles or storylines have been teased for the spin-offs yet, but they are slated to "explore different time periods of George R. R. Martin's vast and rich universe."
