While it’s become common knowledge that Tupac Shakur and Madonna once dated, no one ever really knew the cause behind their break-up. Well, until now.
According to newly discovered letter, that was allegedly written by Tupac while he was in prison, the rapper ended things with Madonna because she was white.

It wasn’t so much about his feelings on her race, as it was how hit fans would feel about her race. For Pac, dating a white woman didn’t exactly align with the persona that he had created.
In the letter, released by TMZ, Tupac writes, “For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting.”

Continuing on, Tupac noted that the relationship would have the opposite effect on him and his image.
“But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.”
The incredibly honest and revealing letter also saw Pac apologize to Madonna for what happen. He stated at one point, “I never meant to hurt you.”
The note is currently set to go up for auction, with the bids starting at $100k. The last letter written by Tupac sold for $170k.
