The original 1973 The Exorcist has many iconic visuals and sequences, but few are quite as memorable as the shot of a priest walking out of a cab and up to the house of a possessed young girl, his silhouette illuminated by a streetlight. To honor the film that made the series possible, FOX's The Exorcist TV series released an all-new poster that pays tribute to the iconic image.

The two figures on the poster appear to be the priests played by Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels, with the streetlight being replaced by the sunlight shining through the trees. The poster was created for San Diego Comic-Con, which is available at the FOX booth.

The first season of The Exorcist was one of the surprise horror hits of the year, an adaptation of William Peter Blatty's novel of the same name. Despite the early episodes of the series perplexing viewers about how it connected to the novel or series of popular films, the show revealed that it continued the story of the first film's main character Regan.

Last month, the show officially received a renewal from FOX, but series stars Geena Davis, Alan Ruck, Hannah Kasulka and Brianne Howey were not expected to return. With their characters having been the target of demonic threats in the first season, ultimately finding peace, the show instead will tell the stories of the religious leaders who helped rid the family of horrible spirits.

The upcoming season's synopsis, according to Deadline, is as follows:

"Season 2 picks up with Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and a newly collarless Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (John Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew's care is targeted by a powerful force, the two priests head west, setting themselves on a collision course with hell."

Another recent addition to the cast is Deadpool star Brianna Hildebrand, who will play Verity, one of Kim's foster children. Deadline reports the character is "close to 18 years old, her time in the house is coming to an end. Her tough exterior makes it seem as if she doesn't care, when in reality, she would die for her siblings and Andrew."

Season 2 of The Exorcist is set to premiere on FOX on Friday, September 29 at 9:00 PM ET.
