Game Of Thrones Season 7 Spoilers Reveal Pivotal Targaryen And Stark Scenes

Fans are anxiously waiting the arrival of winter in Game of Thrones Season 7, set to premiere next month.

The first trailer provided a few glimpses into what's sure to be the biggest season yet as all forces begin to converge in Westeros. But we don't know much about the season beyond those quick snippets.

But now Steve Tilley of the Toronto Sun provided some key details he obtained during his set visit last October, including knowledge of key scenes that will take place in the beginning of the season. He managed to view some key characters in new locations, gathering to discuss the intricacies of wars and conflicts that have pervaded all throughout the Seven Kingdoms.

The scenes hint at growing alliances in the struggle over control of King's Landing and who will rule from the Iron Throne, and also hint at key knowledge being obtained in preparation of the inevitable battle against the White Walkers.

Game of Thrones actors have previously stated that fans will be impressed and shocked at the quickened pace of episodes in the penultimate season. Based on Tilley's descriptions of the scenes we can expect in the first few episodes, we're inclined to believe them.

More Valuable Than Gold

Tilley described one scene in the season premiere taking place at a familiar location.

It consisted of a gathering in the banquet hall at Winterfell, now in control of the rightful heirs Sansa Stark and her brother/cousin Jon Snow.

Jon and Sansa are meeting with some of their most trusted allies. After the events of the last season, the siblings have since gotten rid of the devious Ramsay Bolton and united the different Northern houses under the Stark banner once again.

Meeting with Lady Lyanna Mormont, Brienne of Tarth, Ser Davos Seaworth, and Tormund Giantsbane, Snow discusses the importance of the impending battle against the White Walkers beyond the Wall. He lays out a goal for the group: obtain dragonglass.

"Dragonglass kills White Walkers," Snow said in the scene, "and it's now more valuable than gold."

It sounds like the King in the North is the perfect leader in the battle against the undead threat of winter.

Welcome To Westeros

The next scene takes place in the second episode of the season.

We've yet to see Daenerys Targaryen set foot in Westeros, though it's only a matter of time after the events of last season.

With Varys helping her behind the scenes, the former Queen of nothing has since become one of the most powerful and influential figures in both Essos and Westeros.

The scene takes place in Dragonstone, the former home of the Targaryens until Robert's Rebellion ousted them from power. Once gifted to Stannis Baratheon, the keep seems to be returning to its rightful owner in Season 7.

Daenerys gathers with her allies around the map table, strategizing about their campaign against Cersei Lannister. She's joined by the queen's brother and her own Hand Tyrion Lannister, new allies Theon and Yara Greyjoy, the Red Priestess Missandei, and co-conspirators Ellaria Sand and Lady Olenna Tyrell.

It appears to be one of those scenes the actors were talking about when they mentioned the quickened pace of this truncated season. And it looks like Daenerys is wasting little time in her quest to take the Iron Throne.

The Only Good Dragon Is A Dead Dragon

The last bit of Tilley's set visit was not a scene, but a bunch of props.  We already saw concept art of an abandoned and derelict pit of dragons earlier this year, though we weren't sure how accurate it was without a source.

Maybe there was some truth to that artwork because Tilley reported that the props department had made a series of large dragon skulls to be littering in a scene. A team was crafting a large skull—one of 40, all of different sizes, that were being transported to be filmed on location in Spain.

"According to one of the workers, doing the skulls as CGI wasn't a practical option, as there will be action taking place around – and possibly on – the mammoth props," Tilley wrote in the report.

It sounds like the rumored dragon graveyard will indeed be in the new season, though how much it will factor in is still a mystery. But if the scene actually does take place, we can probably expect to see a fateful encounter between Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow at the location.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres July 16.
