'House of Cards' Perfectly Predicted Trump's Putin Meeting

While House of Cards has eerily lined up with real life political situations numerous times over the years, this latest one is particularly unexpected. One Instagram user pointed out that when President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, it perfectly mimicked a scene from the Netflix original series.

As shown in the stills above, when Trump reached out to Putin for a handshake, it perfectly mirrors the season three meeting between Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and Viktor Petrov (Lars Mikkelsen), who play the show's U.S. and Russian presidents, respectively.

Both Putin and Petrov have a bit of hesitance, and Trump and Underwood are eager and outreaching. The poses are nearly the same, and Trump's tie matches up with the one worn by Underwood.

The only main difference between the two moments is the location and reasons behind the meeting. In House of Cards, the presidents' first meeting occurs in the White House and is intended to help broker a peace agreement between the two powers in hopes of stopping a Middle Eastern conflict.

In real life, the presidents met at the G20 summit for a discussion, which includes claims that Russia didn't interfere with the 2016 U.S. election and that the two countries would partner up to increase cybersecurity.

This isn't the first time this year that real life has recreated House of Cards. A few months back, a Mexican political candidate ripped off on of the show's promo speeches, and it blew up (in a bad way) online.

All five of House of Cards' seasons are currently available to stream on Netflix.
