CONSUMER ALERT: Walmart and Target Recall Frozen Vegetables Over Listeria Concerns

06/20/2016 03:12 pm EDT

Frozen Veggies are unfortunately taking another hit! This time, two grocery giants are in on the recall.

Target and Walmart have recalled their popular frozen food brands — Great Value, Market Pantry, Bountiful Harvest, First Street and Live Smart — over the risk of listeria. Several other retailers and grocery stores have recently recalled similar products over the same concerns.

The frozen vegetables being recalled this time around include any of the brands mentioned above that were old between Sept. 2, 2015 and June 2, 2016.

Recalled varieties include Bountiful Harvest Green Peas, First Street Green Peas, Great Value Mixed Vegetables, Great Value Steamable Mixed Vegetables, Great Value Sweet Peas, Live Smart Mixed Vegetables, Market Pantry Mixed Vegetables, Market Pantry Steam-In-Bag Mixed Vegetables, Market Pantry Sweet Peas, and Sprouts Farmers Market Mixed Vegetables. For a full list of UPC codes, sizes, and use by dates, see the FDA list here.

As we've reported in previous recalls, the FDA says that listeria can "cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems."

The FDA advises that consumers do not eat these products and that all affected products are returned to their place of purchase for a full refund.
