Everyone Is A Killer In New 'Jigsaw' Posters

After the announcement a few weeks back that the latest film in the Saw franchise was officially called "Jigsaw," details have been kept to a minimum about the highly-anticipated sequel. Luckily, with San Diego Comic-Con currently underway, fans have been treated with not just a brand-new trailer for the film, but also a series of new posters. Check out the gallery below to see the series of teaser posters.

The upcoming sequel's synopsis is as follows:

"Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?"

One thing that makes these posters so interesting is that they convey the message that virtually anyone could be the new serial killer and that it seems as though the work of John Kramer has inspired not just one copycat, but a series of murderers aiming to follow in his footsteps.

When speaking with Entertainment Weekly earlier this month, the film's directors, the Spiereg brothers, have assured fans that there are plenty of surprisingly sadistic traps that the characters in the film will fall victim to.

"We've got some pretty wild traps in the film — we don't shy away from the gore," Michael Spierig said during the interview.

He added, "It's such a perfect Halloween scare-fest. It's perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun, which is something we tried to inject into it. But it's still full of good fun gore, that's for sure. And, on top of that, it's got a really great mystery, and there are very interesting twists. It's Saw for 2017."

What many fans have been wondering is if the original film's killer, played by Tobin Bell, is returning to the movie. The Spierig brothers dodged the question by saying, "The DNA of Tobin Bell is all over this film."

The film stars Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, and Callum Keith Rennie. Although the original film's star, Cary Elwes, returned to the series in later sequels, he is not slated to return in this newest sequel.

Jigsaw was directed by the Spierig Brothers, who have previously given audiences Undead, Daybreakers, and Predestination. The script was penned by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, the duo responsible for both Piranha 3D and its sequel, Piranha 3DD.

Jigsaw will be hitting theaters on October 27.
