In 2013, it-couple Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus ended their relationship and their engagement. Liam had proposed at the tender age of 22 — Miley only 19 — and since defended his decision during an interview with an Australian News Corp, according to E! News.

"I don't think it was impulsive," Liam said when asked if the proposal was a bit impetuous. "That was a well thought-out idea."

Though the two split in 2013 shortly after their engagement and went their separate ways, they remained good friends. Over the years, Hemsworth has touched on his relationship during interviews, not going into much detail — until an interview in the June/July issue of GQ.

"Of course it was hard, man," Hemsworth said about the break up. "But at the time we were going in different directions and it's just what needed to happen."

His statement is true in that the two certainly veered off course from each other for a while. Hemsworth continued saying that the two were both young and needed the separation.

Each have grown over the years – done new things, dated new people. However, it seems that the two have reconciled their differences and rekindled their romance. They've been seen holding hands around New York, and Miley recently posted a pic of herself wearing a shirt with Hemsworth printed across the back on her Instagram.

When asked about his current relationship with Cyrus, Hemsworth made no confirmations either way.

"People will figure it out," he said. "They already have … They're not dumb."
