Jill (Duggar) Dillard Discusses Safety Risks Family Faces in Central America

Jill Duggar and husband Derick Dillard are living and working in El Salvador as part of a mission trip, which means they face challenges that they wouldn't have to face in their Arkansas hometown.

A preview of Tuesday's episode of Counting On, which was provided to Us Weekly, shows the couple discussing the safety risks they face in their neighborhood.

"It's risky here — we stand out as Americans, so definitely we're higher risk," the 25-year-old missionary told the camera. "You have to talk about things that probably a lot of couples wouldn't talk about back in the States."

The couple are parents to 16-month-old Israel. They shared that they have to confront their fears head on so that they can be prepared.

"We've been married almost two years — we have a little baby," she explains in the clip. "If we were back in the States, we wouldn't be talking about, 'Now if you die, what am I supposed to do from there? If you don't come home after you are supposed to [at] this hour, then what do I do?' It's hard to talk about those things, but it's also good for us to [know] like, if something happened, what I'm supposed to do."

The couple announced that they would visit the U.S. in August, but they will continue their ministry work in Central America. They believe the work they are doing outweighs the risks.

"I do love my life here," Dillard said. "I think there's not another place in the world I'd rather be right now, but there's obviously going to be times when I'm going to miss my life in America."
