Up to this point, there hasn't been much news regarding Netflix's upcoming Punisher series, where actor Jon Bernthal will reprise the role he made famous in season 2 of Daredevil. That is starting to change, though, as production is now underway and photos are starting to surface from the set.
The newest photos come courtesy of Getty Images, which show Bernthal still recovering from injuries sustained in Daredevil, or at least it appears that way. He can be seen filming scenes next to a black truck and strikes a smile or two as the camera pans. In other photos, his injuries appear to have fully healed, and he uses his newfound health to aid him in snatching a police car and taking off. Things don't look as if they go as planned, as he can later be seen jumping over the hood of the police car for some reason.
Ironically a Kentucky police department made news recently for putting a Punisher-inspired logo on their police cars, featuring the distinctive skull shape. That didn't seem to go over so well, though, as the design was quickly changed. You probably shouldn't embrace a character for law enforcement who has no problem stealing a police vehicle.
Not sighted here is Karen Paige (Deborah Ann Woll), but the Daredevil alum will be a big part of the Punisher series, as the two developed a unique friendship during his original stint on the show.
The anti-hero will next be seen in his own Netflix solo series which is already underway. Steve Lightfoot is writing the first two episodes of the series, and he's also serving as the showrunner and the executive producer. Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb are also onboard as executive producers.
The cast includes Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Paige), Daniel Webber (Lewis Walcott), Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Paul Schulze (Nurse Jackie), Jamie Ray Newman (Sarah Lieberman), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Micro).
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist are all available on Netflix now, and the four heroes will team up in the upcoming Defenders. Somewhere in that mix is also the Punisher series, the second season of Jessica Jones, and the third season of Daredevil, but those have yet to be dated.
