To kick off the show's 600th episode, fan-favorite Frank Grimes will be returning to The Simpsons.

The popular character was introduced and killed off in season 8's classic episode "Homer's Enemy." Grimes' obsession with the ignorance of his Nuclear Power Plant employee ultimately resulted in his death.

Apparently, Grimes has not forgotten the fact even in the after-life. At the beginning of the annual Halloween "Treehouse of Horror" episode, Frank Grimes (voiced by Simpsons cast member Hank Azaria) will be delivering his first lines of dialogue in almost two decades.

However, there is a catch to Grimes' return to the show. He will only be returning in a guest spot only as a cameo appearance that comes in the form of an apparition. The ghost of Grimes and Sideshow Bob will be teaming up with two other characters who will bond over a shared hatred, according to EW.

Executive producer Al Jean stated, "They're forming a sinister squadron of Simpsons enemies to try to kill the Simpsons." He continued, "If that doesn't make people tune in, I don't know what else we can say."

Frank Grimes has been referenced throughout the series several times since his death. Some of the instances include: introducing his son Frank Grimes Jr., showing his tombstone, and in last year's "Treehouse of Horror" episode. Grimes was referenced when a monster was seen rising from his grave who was seeking violent revenge.

This year will mark the first time Grimes' character has spoken since the show's 8th season, "and he's certainly madder at Homer than ever," Al Jean added.

Look for "Treehouse of Horror XXVII" airing on Fox on October 16.

Are you excited for Frank Grimes to be returning to The Simpsons?
