During a recent convention panel (via Bloody Disgusting), horror movie legend Robert Englund joined the ever-growing chorus of voices saying that most films don't need to be rebooted.

As it pertained to A Nightmare on Elm Street, the film that made him famous and a franchise that was unsuccessfully rebooted five years ago, Englund said, "You don't do remakes! I would do Freddy 9, you know? Or I would do Freddy vs Michael Myers. Or I would do a prequel."

All of those sound reasonable enough, but Englund also apparently wanted to go all Leprechaun on the franchise...

"Well, I'd like to see Nightmare in the Hood!" Englund said. "I would! I think it'd be really interesting to do a line of, like, retro 80's hip hop ones and get a black actor to play Freddy and all the kids are, like, hip hop. Just do it the same!"

There is reportedly another reboot in the works, of course; without Wes Craven, who recently passed away, and with Englund apparently not keen on the idea, one wonders how much it will resemble the original.
