It's been almost five months since the WWE Universe has seen Daniel Bryan in action, but the Bearded One is looking to make his return as the co-host of the upcoming WWE Cruiserweight Classic series next month.

Joining the former voice of New Japan Pro Wrestling and now the play-by-play commentator for SmackDown!, Mauro Ranallo, Daniel Bryan is looking to bring his expertise of the high-flying and grappling style of the Cruiserweight division to the WWE Network as he introduces the 32 competitors to the world.

"We scoured the globe to find 32 of the best Cruiserweights to compete in this inaugural tournament," said WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events & Creative Paul Levesque, aka Triple H. "These performers will be given an unprecedented opportunity to showcase their elite athleticism and unbridled passion across WWE's global platforms."

When Bryan announced his retirement back in February, it was reported that WWE was looking for a role for him that wouldn't include any sort of physical contact and this is exactly the kind of thing that is perfectly suited for him. While still a part of the Total Divas television program, seeing Bryan back in the wrestling world in some capacity should be enough to have fans who are uninitiated with these athletes enough reason to tune in.

The WWE Cruiserweight Classic will premiere Wednesday, July 13 at 9 PM ET exclusively on WWE Network. The 10-week tournament will air every Wednesday night and culminate with a live two-hour special on Wednesday, September 14.
