Californication
If sex is what you're looking for, Californication has it right there in the title.
The Showtime original series ran for seven years, and stars David Duchovny as Hank Moody, a writer who moves from New York to California.
While struggling with writer's block, Moody turns to sex and drugs as a method of escaping his reality, and trying to get the creative juices flowing.
Since Californication was on a premium network, it had the ability to get much hotter and heavier than many other shows during that time. The sex on the series is abundant, and it doesn't often hold back.
The Client List
The Client List, while only on the air for two seasons, was the epitome of sexy television.
Based on a 2010 film of the same name, the Lifetime series followed a woman leading two very different lives.
Riley Parks, played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, becomes a single mother after her husband abandons the family. In order to provide for her kids, Riley gets a job at a local spa giving massages. However, as she continues her work, she realizes that this spa gives its customers much more than massages.
She knows it's wrong, but Riley needs the money, so she splits her time between raising her kids and making waves in a dirty business.
Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl is not only responsible for making The CW a network known for steamy TV, but it also put Blake Lively and Leighton Meester on the map.
Beginning in 2007, Gossip Girl followed the lives of rich teenagers living in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The famous blogger, known as the Gossip Girl, narrated the entire series, with Kristen Bell providing the voice.
Serena van der Woodsen (Lively) returned from a stint at boarding school, and the drama immediately began.
After six seasons on the air, Gossip Girl ended its successful run in 2012.
The L Word
Showtime is on a roll, as The L Word is the premium networks second sexy entry on this list.
Beginning in 2004, The L Word followed a group of lesbian friends that lived in West Hollywood. The women dealt with their relationships, family issues, and everything in between.
The show starred Mia Kirshner, Jennifer Beals, Laurel Holloman, Leisha Hailey, Katherine Moennig, and Pam Grier.
After six successful seasons, The L Word spawned a spin-off called The Real L Word, which was a reality series that followed a similar premise.
How To Get Away With Murder
Shonda Rhimes had already brought the sexy to TV with Scandal and Grey's Anatomy, but the famed creator upped the ante with How To Get Away With Murder.
The series began in 2014 and follows the the law students of Annalise Keating, who's played by Emmy-winner Viola Davis.
While she story is about the group trying to solve a murder, their lives are also filled with sex and deceit. Each new relationship sparks new secrets, and forms dangerous alliances.
How To Get Away With Murder is heading into its fourth season on ABC, and the first three are available on Netflix.
