New 'Jack Ryan' TV Series With John Krasinski Is Officially Green Lit At Amazon

Amazon is finally moving forward with its Jack Ryan drama with The Office actor John Krasinski portraying the title character. On Tuesday, the streaming service announced they greenlit the reboot project that is set to be a 10-episode series of the popular CIA books written by Tom Clancy.

The story will follow Krasinski's character as he combats a new breed of terrorism after he unveils a terrorist communication pattern that threatens destruction on a global scale.

After developing the project, the script was penned by Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel, The Strain) and Graham Roland (Almost Human). Paramount Television and Skydance Television will be co-producing the show. Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form will serve as executive producers on the show alongside Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross with Mace Neufeld and Lindsey Springer also attached to the project.

Amazon Studio head Roy Price stated: "We’re excited to add the Jack Ryan global franchise to our robust originals pipeline. Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content."

The upcoming drama starring John Krasinski will mark yet another reboot for the small screen. The Jack Ryan character has previously been portrayed by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine.

Jack Ryan will be the latest title from Skydance's film library to be adapted to the small screen. The forthcoming Amazon project will join Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events, and CBS All Access' Star Trek as well as previous shows including USA's Shooter, Fox's Minority Report, and Nick's School of Rock, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
