Terence Bayler, who starred in Monty Python's Life of Brian and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, has passed away at 86.

According to The Guardian, Bayler died on August 2, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

A friend and collaborator of Bayler's, Eric Idle, wrote on his blog on September 22 remembering the late actor.

"I think the thing I loved most about Terence Bayler was his gentle loving considerate humour. … I loved his commitment to a role and his high seriousness no matter how apparently silly the part. For a writer there is nothing finer than an actor taking your work and making it better than you imagined it."

He also starred in a number of TV shows, including Doctor Who, Law & Order, Play for Today and Life Begins.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Cutko, and his two children from his first marriage to Bridget Armstrong.
