Horrible Bosses and Identity Theft director Seth Gordon is in negotiation to helm Paramount Pictures' Baywatch movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Furious 7), according to Variety.

Johnson has been attached to the project since October of last year, but there hasn't been much movement until today's report. The film will put a comedic spin on the television series that focused on the day-to-day lives of Lifeguards patrolling the beaches of Los Angeles, California.

The original series, which ran from 1989 to 1999, starred David Hasselhoff and a bevy of beauties, like Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Kelly Packard, Nicole Eggert, Yasmine Bleeth, Gena Lee Nolin, Traci Bingham, Donna D'Errico and Krista Allen.

The latest draft the script was penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.
