Character Teasers Released
After plenty of rumors and speculation, The Dark Tower is finally set to hit theaters this year. We know that the first trailer is coming on Wednesday, but Sony wanted to give everyone a little taste of the film before that.
The teasers for the first trailer was released on Matthew McConaughey's Twitter account this morning.
McConaughey and Idris Elba, the two opposing forces in the film, went into a cryptic Twitter battle on Tuesday morning. It started when McConaughey asked Elba if he wanted The Tower, and the two exchanged ominous lines from the movie after that.
This culminated in the 15-second teaser being released on McConaughey's account, with the message that the full trailer would be released at 9am PT on Wednesday.
Idris Elba came back with a teaser video of his own. Each of the two characters has a teaser that is unique to them, and fans are eager to see them go to battle in tomorrow's trailer....

A new photo from Columbia Pictures movie adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower has been released online.
The new image, which can be seen below, show Idris Elba as the gunslinger, Rolan Deschain, walking alongside the gifted youngster Jake Chamber, played by Tom Taylor.
The Dark Tower trailer was rated by Consumer Protection British Columbia and approved for all audiences. The trailer has a runtime of 2 minutes and 32 seconds, suggesting it will be a full-length trailer and not a teaser.
The Dark Tower trailer was officially rated on April 28. Considering the timing, the trailer could begin appearing in theaters as soon as this weekend, possibly attached to the North American release of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

The Dark Tower is the latest work from legendary author Stephen King to make its way into live action. But for fans of the western-fantasy series, the wait for the upcoming film adaptation will be a little bit longer.
Columbia Pictures has revealed that the release date for The Dark Tower has now been changed to August 4th, 2017. This provides a bit of a switch in the studio's slate of films, causing The Emoji Movie to premiere a week early (on The Dark Tower's initial projected release date of July 28th, 2017).
This isn't the first time that the picture - which stars Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey - has been met with distribution woes. The film was first set to debut on February 17th, before being moved around to accomodate other projects Columbia's distribution schedule.
It's not entirely clear why this switch was made, and what effect it will have on The Dark Tower's box office performance. If anything, the new release date might actually help the film's chances, as the July 28th release date placed the film against the action-thriller Atomic Blonde....
