Before Chris Farley (Tommy Boy, Black Sheep) died from a drug overdose in December of 1997 (at age 33), he had been cast to star in Shrek (2001) and had even recorded 80-90% of the title character's dialogue. After his death, DreamWorks had considered hiring a voice impersonator to finish it, but instead chose to replace Farley with fellow Saturday Night Live actor Mike Myers (Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me).

As far I know, none of Farley's audio has ever been released to the public... until now! A story reel featuring Chris Farley as the lovable ogre, posted by film producer John Garbett, has recently been discovered.

Check it out in the video below.

Winner of the first Academy® Award for Best Animated Feature (2002), Shrek sparked a motion picture phenomenon and captured the world's imagination with…the Greatest Fairy Tale Never Told! Shrek (Mike Myers) goes on a quest to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) with the help of his loveable Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and win back the deed to his swamp from scheming Lord Farquaad.

Who voiced Shrek better: Chris Farley or Mike Myers?
