These Diet Tips for Your Zodiac Sign Are Surprisingly Spot-On
What does your star sign have to say about how to stay fit? Turns out, more than you might think! [...]
Aries
Aries is "allergic to monotony," according to MacGuire, which makes restrictive diets a no-go. Instead of limiting yourself to a few go-to meals (which will soon feel like a chore to variety-starved Aries), seek out plenty of options that all meet your diet requirements so you can keep things new and exciting.
MacGuire also notes that Aries have a better chance of success when they regard forbidden foods as an adversary: "If sugar is their downfall, for instance, they should wage war against it, personifying it as their worst enemy."
Taurus
"The most sensual sign of the zodiac, [Taurus] is known to love food," explains MacGuire, so cutting out favorite treats may be doubly hard for this sign. But there are strategies for getting your pleasures elsewhere.
"Being so sensual, Taurus may feel very deprived by not allowing their taste buds to be treated when dieting. Taurus should replace the sensual pleasures they get from food with other non-food sensory indulgences—massage, working out, sex, etc," he says.
prevnextGemini
Gemini has an uncommon ability to manifest change in her life—a skill that can really come in handy when dieting. "Out of all the signs, Gemini has the mental agility to frame their thoughts in a most helpful way to support their dieting endeavors." Positive thinking, mantras and other mental trickery can be Gemini's best friend when it comes to making a change.
As MacGuire puts it, "Simply by saying 'I love vegetables' or 'I enjoy eating only XXXX calories a day' and picturing themselves succeeding, Gemini can think themselves into new habits."
Cancer
Cancer often has a very emotional connection with food, which can be an additional sticking point for making a change to their diets. Taking away some foods that may be associated with comfort, warns MacGuire, may leave Cancer feeling "even more vulnerable than usual."
The fix? "Cancer can support their dieting endeavors by finding other ways to self-nurture, replacing food with yoga, meditation, extra sleep," or other self-soothing methods, he says.
prevnextLeo
The best way for Leo to stick to a diet? Embrace their artistic side. "Leo will succeed well in dieting by making their meals creative," says MacGuire.
Taking cooking classes, treating themselves to a new cookbook or just experimenting in the kitchen can help Leo to get joy and fulfillment out of even the most diet-friendly foods. Leo should allow themselves to get swept up in the creative process of cooking and planning new and exciting meals, both as a way to banish boredom and stick to their goals.
Virgo
As "the purist of the zodiac," Virgo can benefit from instilling some hard-and-fast rules on their diet. Virgo is drawn to efficiency and clarity, so a diet with easy-to-follow guidelines—entire categories to avoid, simple systems to rely on—might be perfect for them.
"Going vegetarian or low-carb, for instance, will help Virgo streamline their diet," says MacGuire, which in turn may prove to be a successful strategy for sticking to their goals.
prevnextLibra
Who better than a Libra—represented by the scales—to succeed at dieting? But as with all things for this sign, balance is a must. "Libra may very much benefit from a 'cheat meal' while staying on track at other times throughout the week," says MacGuire, just to keep things even.
Libra should allow themselves some exceptions to their diet and take an even-handed approach. Additionally, Libra is someone who loves to join forces with a friend or relative to stay accountable. "With a determined diet partner," says MacGuire, "Libra is likely to stay the course."
Scorpio
Is it any surprise that Scorpio thrives off a bit of drama in their dieting endeavors? In order to succeed with their goals, MacGuire recommends Scorpio take a sort of scorched Earth approach to dieting. "They can mentally 'kill off' those high calorie foods from their life, and mourn their death. Likewise, they can emotionally 'kill off' the part of themselves that brought them to having to diet in the first place, and reinvent themselves into someone who has the eating habits of those of their ideal weight."
After a period of transition, Scorpio will emerge as a stronger and more determined version of themselves.
prevnextSagittarius
As a sign that loves excess, dieting certainly isn't Sag's favorite word. The trick, then, is for Sagittarius to find ways to keep their meals feeling indulgent and luxurious while also eating healthier. "They may do well dieting by implementing the 80-20 rule which says that they can eat well 80 percent of the time while allowing splurges 20 percent. This will help Sagittarius cut calories without cutting off their indulgent identity," suggests MacGuire.
Feeling full is also a must, as Sagittarius will have a much harder time sticking to a plan if they feel deprived.
Capricorn
Capricorn has an iron willpower when it comes to some things, and counting calories just may be one of them. As a sign that knows that "success is rarely achieved without sacrifice," as MacGuire puts it, Capricorn will have a relatively successful time limiting themselves or restricting their diets.
The one place this isn't the case? Their vices. "For all of Capricorn's toughness, they can have very addictive personalities," says MacGuire. "It may be best for them to avoid alcohol and sugar," he advises, instead opting for less habit-forming ways to indulge.
prevnextAquarius
Aquarius' inventive nature makes a one-size-fits-all diet routine difficult for them. Instead, they may enjoy tinkering with elements of various plans in order to better suit their goals. Aquarius should strive to create a specialized, custom plan "full of all the healthy food choices they enjoy, with room in their calorie limit for some indulgences from time to time," says MacGuire.
Aquarius is also drawn to things that are a bit off the beaten path, so it's unlikely that a popular, trendy diet will be right for them. Instead, this sign should look for a healthy, well-researched diet that is as unique as they are.
Pisces
Pisces know their weaknesses, but isn't always very good at avoiding them. "Prone to overindulgence, Pisces should swear off those foods that they have a tendency to overeat; if they can't just have one piece of chocolate, potato chip, etc., they should avoid them entirely and find healthy replacements," advises MacGuire.
Can't eat an Oreo without demolishing the entire sleeve? Maybe passing them up at the grocery store in the first place is the best bet.
But it's not enough just to cut out the bad foods without making sure to substitute nutritious options: "Pisces can sometimes have trouble tending to practical matters like health. When dieting, they should ensure their pre-planned weekly menus have enough vitamins and nutrients (omega 3s especially) so they keep healthy and strong on the road to weight loss," he explains.
