Mornings are a time to welcome in the new day with open arms and a big appetite. As breakfast being the most important meal of the day, preparing something nutritious and delicious should be something you look forward to rather than dread, and what's more annoying than not being able to cook something because it takes too much effort?
Eggs are a popular breakfast item because they are loaded with high quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and healthy fats. On average, one large egg has roughly 77 calories with 5 grams of fat, and 6 grams of protein with all 9 essential amino acids. Many dieters choose to only eat egg whites since the yolk contains the most cholesterol and fat — they do this by manually separating the egg yolk from the egg after cracking it, which, for many, get can messy and difficult.
Now, there's a new way to get the most out of your egg without wasting any parts. Introducing: the egg separator! This nifty little tool is used to separate the yolk of an egg from the egg white, and it comes in a variety of designs.
If you are cooking a meal that calls for egg whites within a larger batch of other ingredients, check out this one by OXO (pictured above). It's one of our favorite brands and it hooks onto the sides of a bowl and creates a perfect edge for cracking eggs. The base of the tool catches runaway pieces of broken eggshell and prevents dripping on the outside of the bowl before it gets on the counter. In addition to being able to adjust to any size cooking bowl, it can also separate egg yolks from egg whites in one easy step! It's small and compact, so it can easily find space in your kitchen tool drawer and it is also dishwasher safe (which is always convenient).
Now you can enjoy eggs in the morning without stressing over the hassle of separating the yolks from the white. If you're not sure how to make the most use out of this lean protein in your breakfast, check out some of our recipes listed below. Enjoy!
