Actors Kapil Sharma and Irrfan Khan found out the hard way that unauthorized construction is a big no-no in the eyes of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

Sharma and Khan were served a notice by the Municipal Corporation after they made additions to their flats. But this isn't the first time this building has had unauthorized constructions.

Filmmaker and activist Ashoke Pandit has raised his concerns over the building's going-ons but the BMC refused to listen.

"I had raised an alarm about the irregularities in this building a year ago," Pandit said. "But the building proposal department of the BMC, as usual, didn't respond to my concerns and went ahead to give an occupation certificate, which was quite shocking. I demand the withdrawal of the certificate and suspension of all those officers involved in granting the approval. The builder-architect-BMC nexus has ruined this city."

In 2004, Arshad Warsi and Maria Goretti were accused of violating BMC regulations during construction. In 2011, Suniel Shetty was accused of building without the BMC's permission. And in February of this year, Shah Rukh Khan was fined for creating an illegal ramp outside 'Mannat.'

Now, Kapil and Irrfan are added to the list of those who have have violated BMC regulations.
