"In all honesty, I used to feel guilty for masturbating," she said. "Oh, my God, this extreme guilt! And that lasted way too long. Or maybe I masturbated too much!"

Rodriguez, who has been dating actor Joe LoCicero since last year, added that it's OK to look back at your life and admit that you were wrong.

"It's OK to look back in retrospect and be like, it wasn't good that I felt bad about touching myself. And it isn't bad that I want to share my love with my boyfriend. I'm 32 years old, I'm an adult, I can do that!"

She also opened up about the time she "met" LoCicero at the gym, months after he appeared on an episode of Jane the Virgin.

"The second time I saw him, I didn't recognize who he was. He came in through the door and I was like 'Good God!' and I fell into his eyeballs," she recalls. "On the fourth day [that we saw each other at the gym], he asked me out, and I have been dating him ever since. Now I know what it means to date your best friend."

The open and relatable star previously told Health that she wants to use her platform as an opportunity to encourage people to accept and respect themselves and others.

"All of those thoughts, 'I'm not pretty enough, smart enough, strong enough,' only exist within you," she said. "If you don't feel like you're strong enough, start working on your strength. If you don't feel like you're tall enough, well, sorry, baby, that's what God gave you. [Laughs] It's just life. Tall enough for what? Let's start breaking these thoughts down and understand where the illusion lies, where the truth lies, where your control is, and what you can do to make it better. Now, when somebody tells me no, I say, 'OK, thank you. I'm gonna look for the yes. Your no doesn't end my world.'"
