Aaron Carter Opens up About His Sexuality in Emotional Letter
Aaron Carter has had a difficult few weeks in the limelight, but the 29-year-old singer is now [...]
He adds there were years that went by where he thought about it, but says, it wasn't until he was 17-year-old and after a few relationships with girls that he realized this emerging aspect to his identity.
I had an experience with a male that I had an attraction to who I also worked with and grew up with," he wrote. While he doesn't disclose who exactly it was, Carter says music was a way to heal him.
"To me music has always been my temple," he continued. "Music will ALWAYS be what transcends us and myself. The studio has always been my safe haven. But the ultimate goal for me is to be satisfied. I never want to be a figure of disappointment."
To sum up his feelings best, Carter concluded his letter with a quote from Boy George that read, "I've never felt as though I didn't belong, I just acted as though I did."

Carter's openness might be a long time coming. The "Crush on You" crooner has had a slew of events take place for a while now, including body-shaming from fans and his infamous DUI from July, that had him breaking down on Entertainment Tonight.
prevnextCarter bullied by fans
Carter has been making headlines since June, when TMZ reported he was hospitalized, for exhaustion after a concert in Syracuse. The report states that the trip to the hospital was just the icing on the cake following the singer's terrible night.
Carter claims that he had a string of shows, and that this one featured some fans who weren't particularly kind, with one reportedly body-shaming Carter, saying that he was too skinny.
The singer revealed that one fan was talking to another and didn't realize he could hear them. The fan stated that he looked "like he had cancer," and that he needed to eat more because it "looked like he was dying."
Carter wasn't a big fan of the statement, saying things like, "They literally won't stop bullying me" and "I'm sorry I'm not fat enough."
prevnextHis DUI arrest in Georgia
On July 16, Carter was arrested in Georgia along with his girlfriend, Madison Parker. He was charged with driving under the influence, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects.
According to authorities, he was pulled over at around 9 p.m., just about 90 miles north of Atlanta, according to authorities.
TMZ reports that Carter refused to undergo a breathalyzer and drug test to determine his blood alcohol level.
Carter's girlfriend, Parker, was charged with possession of marijuana, obstruction of law enforcement officers and possession of drug-related objects.
The arrest came hours after he tweeted he was not able to make his Kansas City show due to "transportation issues."

The 29-year-old singer spoke with Entertainment Tonight shortly after his arrest and was clearly still emotional about the whole incident. Carter and his girlfriend, Madison Parker, were both arrested on multiple charges.
During his interview with ET, Carter broke down in tears as he described how the last few days leading up to his interview with the agency had him not sleeping for days. He went through every detail leading up to his arrest and revealed what drugs he has been taking over the last few months. Just a few days before his DUI arrest, Carter was filmed by TMZ talking about Shia LaBeouf's recent arrest, saying, "You won't catch me getting any DUI's'."
Although Carter has been through a lot the last few days, the performer made his first public appearance since his arrest on Monday for a concert in Alabama. Before he took the stage, he defended himself against Twitter users that publicly criticized him for his drug use.
He also spoke about this matter on Tuesday and cleared the air on the rumors he uses meth, heroine and crack.
"Basically, I've been listening to America and Stevie Wonder and the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack," Carter said, when asked how he's coping.
prevnextCarter undergoes 'top secret' surgery
Earlier this month, Carter underwent "top secret" surgery and is said to be recovering well. The 29-year-old singer was filmed while greeting fans on a TMZ tour bus, explaining to passengers that he had just gone under the knife.
From the start, the younger brother of Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter was speaking out about surgery and anesthesia. Even though he admitted that he had just come out of surgery, Carter isn't willing to spill on what kind of procedure he had done.
"The whole Carter family is concerned for Aaron. They're worried," a source said while talking with Us Weekly.
"To my brother: I love u no matter what & if u feel the need to reach for help, I am here and willing to help you get better," brother Nick tweeted.
Carter did not respond well to his brother's message.
"If my own blood truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn't he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum? That's not cool at all to use me for his PR and kick me while I am down. I love my family despite it through thick and thin," he said.
As for the Carter family, they aren't able to easily reach out to Aaron.
"Nick doesn't have his phone number. Aaron blocks everyone and changes his number so none of his family can get in touch with him. He changes his number a lot," the source said.
In a television interview following his arrest, Carter defended himself.
"I don't need help. What I need is for people to understand that I'm human and I make mistakes just like every other human in this world, but I would never risk my life or my girlfriend's life. I do not drink. Hire a polygraph person, a professional. Strap me up," he said.
