Former Walking Dead star Michael Rooker is set to appear as Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy. As one of the actors in the film, he's also one of the people who gets to see the film before anyone else. Despite Rooker's normally reserved expectations for his film, he seems pretty head over heels about Guardians of the Galaxy.

"Dude, I saw it last week," Rooker says in an interview with ComicBook.com. "I saw the absolute, finished, polished, out to the fans version and, I said to someone the other day…I'm usually very conservative about what I think the film's going to do, or how the film's going to do, but I'm not being conservative here. This is the most exciting, fun, cool piece I've ever been involved with, and I think fans are going to go apes--- over it. That's a term I can use, I guess [laughs]. I think they're just going to love it, they're going to dig it so much. I know I did. I walked away with a big grin on my face, so it was very cool, very cool."

The pretty high praise even for a movie that Rooker is in. The trailers for the film have expectations pretty high, but Rooker says even they don't do the film justice.

"You can't judge this movie by the trailer," Rooker says, "because, I got to tell you, the movie's way, way better than the trailer…it's one of those kinds of movies you're going to want to see more than once or twice. It's quite rich and rewarding."

Guardians of the Galaxy comes to theaters August 1.
