Rumor: Is Chris Evans Going To Be Replaced As Captain America?

Entertainment blog Celebitchy is reporting rumors - and they are very, very much rumors - that Chris Evans may be killed off and replaced in his role as Captain America following the upcoming film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The rumors sprang up as the film gets ready for late reshoots in January. Of course, its entirely possible that these rumors - loosely tied to reports that Evans is not always the easiest actor to work with - are manufactured as a means of drumming up some extra publicity for the big film. Reshoots are not uncommon for blockbuster films - Thor: The Dark World had its own string of them to add in an extra dose of Loki before the film hit theaters. Comic book fans who have read Ed Brubaker's Captain America series, which the film is based on, might find these rumors particularly interesting. Given how well-liked Evans is as Captain America, it seems unlikely that Marvel would pull him from the role without giving it a lot of serious thought. But if they did, it could be a pretty bold storytelling decision. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on April 4, 2014.
