Freaks & Geeks Star Joins Veronica Mars Cast

Martin Starr, best known for his role on Freaks & Geeks, has joined the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of Veronica Mars, confirms director Rob Thomas. Starr himself had already let the cat out of the bag last week, posting the picture at right to Instagram along with the caption, "@therealkrystenritter/@KrystenRitter#VeronicaMarsMovie It has begun. Get your brain ready for it." Whether his character is going to be married to Ritter's Gia in the film of he just took the moment to snap a photo isn't clear.  Starr is the first actor confirmed to play a role in the film who wasn't in the original series, although Thomas has hinted that there will be at least one more, an actor Thomas has admired for thirty years. Wrote Thomas in an e-mail to backers, "Martin Starr has joined the cast of Veronica Mars in the new role of Lou 'Cobb' Cobbler, another 09'er returning for the ten-year reunion. "I shouldn't take full credit for this idea. Martin sent me a video a few nights ago, claiming that it was Kristen's idea to cast him:

Whoever thought of it, it wasn't a terrible idea."
