The producers of a high-production value fan film titled Cursed Edge, set in the world of Judge Dredd, have released their first trailer, showcasing Mega City One and the threats faced by the Judges there. You can check it out at the embed below. The movie, directed by Oliver Hollingdale, is a short film "based upon the Judge Dredd Universe following stories from the published case-files 2000AD," according to their Facebook page. While it's not officially licensed by or property of Rebellion, the current film rights holders of the Dredd franchise, they're aware of the production and tacitly approving of its production, ensuring that the high-profile film doesn't land its filmmakers in trouble. Yesterday morning, the filmmakers announced before uploading the trailer to YouTube that Rebellion had signed off on it. The look of the judges in the film also owes a lot to Dredd 3D, taking a version of the costumes that looks more like the cult-favorite Karl Urban film than like the comci book source material. This is actually the second major fan film to come out of the Dredd universe since Dredd 3D left theaters; the first was Judge Minty, a feature-length story that adapted the story of a retired judge taking justice to the Cursed Earth.
