Sgt. Slaughter Could Have Been in G.I. Joe: Retaliation

According to a new interview, longtime WWF (now WWE) wrestling personality and former G.I. Joe castmember Sgt. Slaughter claims that he could have played the role eventually filled by Bruce Willis in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, but that a rights conflict nixed the deal and the Sgt. Slaughter character was rewritten as General Joe Colton, "the original G.I. Joe." "Yes, I was originally supposed to be the part of Bruce Willis' [as] Sgt. Slaughter but because we had a conflict in toy companies, Hasbro and Mattel, I wasn't able to do it. It's one of those things, Rock doesn't have a contract so he can do what he wants to do and he's been very successful."
