Vince Gilligan, who failed to make hay with a spinoff based on The X-Files's quirky comic relief The Lone Gunmen, is reportedly in talks with AMC to spin off quirky comic relief character Saul Goodman from Breaking Bad into his own series. If at first you don't succeed... Deadline reports the series may be an hourlong or half-hour, and is being conceived as a comedy vehicle for Bob Odenkirk, the famed comedian who plays Goodman on Breaking Bad. Gilligan, who created Breaking Bad, is putting together a treatment with series writer-producer Peter Gould, who co-created Saul in the series's second season. "I would love to see a Saul Goodman spinoff," Deadline quotes Gilligan as saying in a July 2012 interview. "I like the idea of a lawyer show in which the main lawyer will do anything it takes to stay out of a court of law. He'll settle on the courthouse steps, whatever it takes to stay out of the courtroom. That would be fun — I would like that."
