Longtime NASCAR driver Robby Gordon’s father and stepmom were found dead in their home in Orange, California on Wednesday, according to People.

It is unclear how they died, but local authorities suspect it may have been a double suicide or murder-suicide due to a rifle found in their home, a police spokesman told PEOPLE.

Gordon told The Orange County Register he thinks he knows what happened, but will not speak about it until he talks with the coroner.

Neighbors called the police after they found Robert "Baja Bob" Gordon, 68, and Sharon Gordon, 57, dead on Wednesday afternoon, Orange police Lt. Fred Lopez says. There are no suspects at this time.

"This is devastating," said a tearful Gordon, 47, according to the Register. "He taught so many, and I want everyone to know what a good man he was."

Autopsies were completed for Sharon and Robert on Thursday, Lopez says.

"I feel very sad," one neighbor said, according to USA Today. "Everyone here will be very sad."

Our thoughts and prayers are with Gordon and his family.

Update (Friday, 7:50 a.m.): Gordon's father reportedly strangled his wive and then shot himself soon after.
