Producer Reveals The Most Important Part of Wonder Woman's Mission

Diana, princess of Themiscyra comes to man's world in Wonder Woman for the first time - that's because the majority of the film takes place about a hundred years ago (and thus 100 years before the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), showing us her origin story. As she comes to man's world in the throes of World War I, Diana is on a mission to help, but it's not merely to fight for the sake of fighting or even to bring down Ares.
"The most important thing, I think, is that Diana's mission is the Amazon mission," producer Charles Roven told ComicBook.com in an interview. That mission, the entire reason the Amazons were created, is to bring peace and love back into humanity's heart, after Ares corrupted humanity for his own gains. That leads to the primary focus, the lesson of the film.
"She feels that she is going to accomplish it in one way, and she learns that actually she has to accomplish it in another way. While she's got the mission in her mind when she leaves, she accomplishes the mission by actually learning from her experiences, including being gifted of those experiences by mankind. It's really just the sense that we're not in this world alone. We need each other," Roven said.
That's a lesson well worth learning, and one that's just as valid today as it was 100 years ago.
Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot as Diana, Princess of Themyscira, is in post-production now for a June 2, 2017 release.
